1987

Alexandre’s professional debut was at “People”, a nightclub in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro, with Blue Jeans Band, an Elvis Presley cover band, in 1987. Earlier, he took part in the recording of a local band called “Cogumelo’s”, playing Korg’s Poly 800, an early synthesizer.

1972

Alexandre grew up in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, and attended the Centro Educacional de Niterói Elementary and High School from 1972 to 1982, with a fast passage thru Olympic High School at Bremerton, WA, in 1981, as an Exchange Student at Youth for Understanding program. Alexandre is the 2nd son of from Luis Roberto and Dora Negreiros, engineers (respectively electrician and chemistry). His older brother Cyro is a psychologist, and his younger brother Gustavo is a geographer. Alexandre first studied piano with Maria Eunice Moço, approximately from 8 to 11 years old. At school, he attended music classes and the choir, as a special activity, for almost 8 years. Later on, he returned to piano classes with Prof. Roberto Maurício, Dario Galante and Luiz Eça, and completed his harmony and arrangement classes with Sergio Benevenuto and Blas Rivera.
